Can You Really Buy Pets Online?

Posted by myGPT Team | 2:00 PM | 2 comments »

The world has gotten smaller. It has gotten so small that
things you used to have to buy from someone in your town or
geographic area can be bought from someone on the other
side of an ocean. If you're at home with a sick baby and
you only have a few days of formula left, you can purchase
that formula online and it comes right to your door in a
few days. If you want to buy a certain type of dog or cat,
you simply make the transaction and meet that person
anywhere within the country to pick up your new friend.

All of this is possible because of the Internet. All of
this would not happen unless the Internet had opened up
doorways to the world. People are able to carry out
transactions anywhere in the world and it can be done so
easily. But there is one exception and that exception is
pet transactions.

Pet transactions

Pet transactions can be carried out easily on the Internet,
but it is the delivery of the merchandise that gets a
little bit tricky. This is because we're talking about
transporting a live animal and there is not a shipping
service for this. This is the one time in which you're not
going to be able to buy a dog in England and have it
shipped to you. You can, however, live in New York and buy
an animal in California. That's if the person doing the
selling is willing to meet you at a halfway point.
Something like that is rare unless that person selling the
animal is that passionate about placing that animal in your
home.

However, you can make arrangements to go to California if
you're that passionate about that particular pet. There is
no problem with that. You can fly there and transport the
animal on the plane to make it easier. It is up to you, but
the point is that you can make such a transaction. And yes,
if you want to fly to England to pick up a pet, you can do
that, so an international pet transaction can definitely be
done. You just have to be really passionate about that
animal.

Pet transactions the usual way

The usual way in which pet transactions are carried out do
not involve driving or flying across the country, or even
flying halfway across the world. A person usually goes to
the Internet to see if any breeders are selling a
particular type of dog or cat. When they find that
individual, they will contact that person and ask them
questions about the pets that they are breeding. They will
usually ask if the breeder would send pictures, which is
most likely always done. After seeing pictures and doing
some research on the breeder, the seeker will make
arrangements to purchase the animal. After the purchase,
the two will meet at a mutual place or the buyer will come
to the breeder's home.

It is usually better to come to the breeder's home because
you're able to see the condition of the animals and their
living quarters. This ensures that you're not dealing with
a puppy or cat mill. It also gives you the opportunity to
back out of the transaction if you must. The important
thing, however, is that the Internet brought you and this
breeder together. You would not have been able to find this
animal if you didn't have the entire world to search.

As for where you can find breeders, you can usually find
breeders selling their animals on classified ad sites,
auction sites, and other places throughout the Internet. If
you see in a classified ad or in something else that a
breeder is selling a Bichon Frise and you've always wanted
a Bichon Frise, you're in luck. Maybe no one in your area
breeds these dogs and that is why you've been unable to get
hold of one. By checking the Internet you were able to find
the dog of your dreams and you are able to make
arrangements to pick him or her up. This is something that
happens every single day, which gives dog breeders a much
broader customer base.

Bringing pets and people together

It's amazing how the Internet has brought people and their
pets together. It is sort of like personal ads for people
and animals. You answer the ad and the next thing you know
you have the four-legged love of your life in your arms.
Many happy pets and their owners have found each other this
way.

Another way in which pets and people have been brought
together really digs at your heart. As puppy mills and
unfit owners are stopped by law enforcement, pictures of
these animals are placed online. They are placed on pet
adoption sites, classified ad sites, and on social
networking sites. Their stories are told and this really
plucks at the heart strings of people all around the world.
If it were not for the Internet, most of these animals
would not find homes. Fortunately, because of the Internet,
over 90% of these abused animals find good homes. It is
because of the Internet that awareness of these issues is
coming about so that these abused animals can be rescued
and put into good homes.

So if you're looking for that perfect pet, make sure you
check the classified ads online and various other sites
around the web. You never know when you might become the
love of an animal's life. You can be his or her hero. No
matter how you go about it, you will find your best friend,
your sidekick, and the fuzzy love of your life. So if you
can't find what you want in your own area, remember that
you have the entire world to find your best friend. You're
not restricted by the borders of your own state or even by
your own country. Take advantage of that and have fun with
it.

A little research on the internet about teaching a parrot
to talk will reveal a fair bit of information. The trouble
is that a lot of it is complete baloney and some of it
would probably ensure that you would be doing exactly the
wrong things and using the wrong methods entirely to train
your parrot. Seriously, if you read some of the rubbish
out there that supposedly teaches you about how to teach
your parrot to talk, you're going to end up with a
seriously frustrated and anxious parrot! Not to mention
that you'll probably end up believing that your parrot will
never utter a word and that training a parrot is beyond you.

Actually, nothing could be further from the truth. Teaching
a parrot to talk can not only be very easy, but also a lot
of fun!

Let's dispel a few myths that are out there so that you can
avoid some of the most common mistakes when training your
parrot.

Parrot Training Myth 1) - Make a tape recording of your
voice repeating a phrase over and over again and leave it
in the room with the parrot...... WRONG! Parrot Training
Myth 2) - Spend hours at a time repeating a word or phrase
over and over again..... WRONG!

Parrot Training Myth 3) - Talk in a 'parrot type voice'
when talking to your parrot.... WRONG!

Parrot Training Myth 4) - Use any word when teaching your
parrot to speak.......WRONG!

Parrot Training Myth 5) - Whistle and play tunes to your
bird as well as talk to it.....WRONG!

Parrot Training Myth 6) - Have your teaching sessions as
and when you want throughout the day..... WRONG!

Parrot Training Myth 7) - You can buy an already talking
parrot and it will talk for you..... WRONG!

As you can see there are many ideas and notions out there
on how you should go about teaching your parrot to speak,
not all necessarily correct, and unless you begin and follow
through in a precise and systematic way you, or most
probably your parrot, may well have a negative reaction to
the whole experience.

Teaching your parrot to talk though can be a
straightforward process which, once you know the right
steps and apply them, will have you bird chatting away
quickly and happily.

There are two key starting points in getting your parrot to
talk. The first is to have a good relationship with it. A
bird that is frightened or not looked after properly will
either keep quiet so as not to be noticed or scream all day
to get attention because it is feeling lonely. So ensure
you have built a good, trusting relationship otherwise you
will be wasting your time. The second most important point
is praise. Everyone enjoys receiving praise and you parrot
is no different. Save your praise for when the parrot gets
the words right, as too much of a good thing loses its
value. Praise can be as simple as making eye contact and
saying 'Good Bird'. Parrots love attention, so use this to
your advantage.

Teaching your parrot to speak doesn't have to be difficult
and it can be an extremely rewarding and fun experience for
both you and your parrot. You will also be helping you
parrot as training your parrot is essential. Parrots are
extremely intelligent birds and require stimulation as well
as behavioral training in order to develop and grow in a
positive and healthy way. So not only will you have a
healthy and happy parrot, your enjoyment of your pet will
reach a whole new level!

All dog lovers want the best for their companion, and
starting with proper nutrition you will give your pet the
basis for a long healthy life. There is no one best dog
food on the market today, but many extremely ultra premium
or high quality organic dog foods that are excellent
choices. Also beware that there are more really bad, low
quality, low nutrition, and chemical filled commercial dog
foods. The cheaper brands are generally available in the
grocery store. The better organic dog foods are usually
ordered directly through the company, or offered at high
end pet stores.

Increasing your dog's life span is easily achieved by
feeding a properly balanced healthy organic dog food or
high premium diet from puppy hood. An all natural healthy
diet is as beneficial for your dog as it is for yourself.
Improper or poor nutrition can cause diseases, allergies,
obesity, and shortened life spans in your dogs.

There are many commercial grade dog food products available
at the grocery store, and care must be taken when choosing
one. After the recent pet food contamination scares and
recalls because of toxicity and disgusting additives being
found in the manufacturing process, many pet owners are
becoming much more aware of what they feed their pet.

Here are a few general guidelines to follow when looking at
the ingredients on a dog food bag:

Choose a food with high meat content. The first ingredient
must be a specified meat. Another one or two meats or meat
meal listed in the top 5 ingredients is a bonus, but not
necessary. (Meat meal is meat with the moisture removed.)

If the same grain ingredient is used two or more times in
the first five ingredients (i.e. "ground brown rice",
brewer's rice", "rice flour", are all the same grain), this
is not a well balanced, nutritious product. It is loaded
with "filler" and made to look like it is healthy by
separating the one ingredient into sub categories, but rice
is rice so it should be listed once.

Using high quality grains has become the standard for the
premium quality dog food manufacturers, such as barley,
brown rice and oatmeal. If the grains are organic, then
all the better. Wheat and corn are inferior and useless
as a nutritional element in dog food, and used as filler
only. Also wheat and corn are both know to cause allergies
in dogs.

There should be absolutely no by-products listed.

There should not be any fillers.

Carcinogenic preservatives do not need to be used, and if
they are don't buy the product. (They will be listed as
BHA, BHT, or ethoxyquin.)

Artificial colorings are also cancer causing, and
completely unnecessary. You'll be surprised to see how
many products still contain this dangerous ingredient. The
dyes will be marked as such - e.g. Red, Blue and Yellow
dyes.

No added sugars or corn syrup should be in the ingredient
list.

The more organic ingredients listed, the better.

Added glucosamine, chondroitin, pro and prebiotics, flax
seed oil, barley, oats or oatmeal, and sunflower oil, are a
good thing.

Slowly baked, not extruded, retains the minerals, vitamins
and essential goodness of the food.

Hormone free, antibiotic free, pesticide and herbicide
free, chemical and preservative free would indicate a high
quality premium organic dog food.

And finally, no mystery meats should be in the list.
Mystery meat will be listed as simply meat or poultry,
rather than chicken or venison. The mystery meat will
probably be some horrible rotten road kill, old euthanized
animals, and parts of animals that are not edible.

Although the higher quality food might seem more expensive
initially, it will work itself out and become cheaper in
the long run. The savings in vet bills alone over the life
of your pet will pay for the food.

I use a lazy homemade dog food tactic of using a high end
organic dog food, and add just a few ounces of poached
chicken, or broiled venison every day. The best of both
worlds is then achieved for my dogs.

Always be aware, educate yourself and know that the big
business of dog food manufacturing is in it for the profit,
not the health and welfare of our pets. That is up to us.
Just do the absolute best you can for your pet and it will
be returned with more doggie love, which is never a bad
thing.
